Abstract
Flash Express emerged as a force in Thailand’s logistics and e-commerce sector by redefining parcel delivery affordability, scale, and service integration. Founded in 2017, the company achieved rapid growth and became Thailand’s first unicorn by 2021, despite intense competition from well-established regional and international logistics players.
This case study examines how Flash Express leveraged aggressive pricing, free nationwide door-to-door pickup, year-round operations, and fully in-house technology to address structural inefficiencies in Thailand’s delivery cost structure and support the rapid expansion of e-commerce. While Flash Express has begun to demonstrate profitability and regional expansion into Laos, the Philippines, and Malaysia, the study underscores ongoing challenges related to margin sustainability, intensifying competition, and long-term operational efficiency. The case study invites learners to evaluate Flash Express’s strategic options as it balances growth, profitability, and regional ambitions in Southeast Asia’s increasingly competitive logistics landscape.
