Abstract
Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) began as a small ice cream shop in Manila and has grown into one of the world’s fastest-expanding quick-service restaurant (QSR) companies. By 2025, it managed a diversified portfolio of 19 brands across 34 countries. JFC’s rise was driven by strong domestic market leadership, diaspora-driven brand loyalty, and international expansion through acquisitions, joint ventures, and franchising. Its global growth journey has been shaped by a careful balance between cultural authenticity, operational scalability, and local market adaptation.
This case study examines how Jollibee leveraged its competitive strengths to scale internationally, analyzing key decisions in market entry, post-acquisition integration, portfolio management, and brand localization. It highlights both the opportunities and challenges of managing a global restaurant group while maintaining a distinctly Filipino identity. The case encourages learners to evaluate international expansion strategies, cross-cultural adaptation, M&A-driven growth, and the long-term sustainability of a multi-brand global business model.
