Abstract

Taokaenoi has positioned Thailand’s seaweed snack industry and has become one of the country’s most recognizable consumer brands, driven by strong branding, extensive distribution networks, and international expansion under the governance of founder and CEO Itthipat Peeradechapan.

This case study examines how Taokaenoi achieved rapid growth and explores the governance structure that supported the company’s expansion while creating organizational vulnerabilities. It further analyzes the insider trading scandal that emerged in 2025, revealing how concentrated family ownership contributed to governance breakdowns despite the company’s stable financial performance.

This problem-solving case study invites learners to evaluate the trade-offs between entrepreneurial control and institutional governance while assessing strategic options for Taokaenoi’s long-term transformation, including maintaining family control, professionalizing management, or adopting a hybrid governance model.
